Ralph L. Ciszewski age 73 of Wayne died Friday, December 22, 2006 at the Atrium Health Care Center in Wayne. His passing was quiet and peaceful while receiving the loving care of his family who were at his bedside.
He was born in Jersey City and had lived his childhood in Wayne, later living in North Arlington before moving back to Wayne where he lived for the past forty years.
Ralph received his formal education at Dickinson High School in Jersey City with the Class of 1951. He then went on to Notre Dame University in Indiana where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Mr. Ciszewski was employed by IT&T Corporation in Nutley for thirty-six years before his retirement in 1994.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of The Valley RC Church in Wayne.
He served in the United States Army in the 1960’s.
His family is left with many fond memories of a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a wonderful mentor to his children and he especially adored his grandchildren.
As a father he was always there for family and on just about every weekend he packed everyone up for a special trip to enjoy Polish Dancing or perhaps the sea shore at Wildwood or Ocean City, Maryland.
He enjoyed sports and coached Wayne Little League and was affectionately called “Lefty”. Ralph was the New York Giants number one fan and with his personal ties to Notre Dame he was a top shelf rooter for that team. He made it a practice to keep his family members in new Notre Dame “T” shirts.
At home he was an accomplished gardener and specialized in raising vegetables to perfection.
Ralph and Aldona Ciszewski were married for forty-six years in a “wonderful loving” marriage.
Surviving are his loving wife Aldona (nee Sitarski) Ciszewski; one son Robert Ciszewski and his wife Ruthann of Sewaren, NJ; two daughters Debra Jozak and her husband Edward of Wayne, Karen Stradella of Wayne; three brothers Chester Cisewski of Wayne, William Ciszewski and his wife Ginny of Manahawkin, Frank Ciszewski and his wife Vera of Forked River; four grandchildren Dylan Ciszewski, Amanda Stradella, Emily and Megan Jozak.
His sisters Helen Rovneyko died in 2004 and Margie Hewitt predeceased him in 2005.
Those planning an expression of sympathy in Ralph’s memory are asked to consider the American Diabetes Association, 19 Schoolhouse Road, Somerset, NJ 08873.
