Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, March 4, 2007 from 2-4, 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM on Monday, March 5, 2007 at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne.
Interment will be in East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
Raymond H. Cook age 82 of Wayne died peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice, Saint Lukes Hospital, Bethlehem, PA.
He was born in Passaic and raised in Nutley before moving to Wayne fifty-seven years ago.
Raymond graduated from the Nutley High School, Nutley with the class of 1942.
He served in the US Navy during WWII as an Electrician’s Mate Second Class. The majority of his service time was spent on the Destroyer USS Miller having seen action throughout the Pacific. He was awarded the American Theatre Medal, a Letter of Commendation, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal --2 stars and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal -- 8 Stars.
Mr. Cook was an electrician for the National Electric Company, Clifton for over forty years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local 102, Paterson for many years. He attended the annual union outing as recently as this past September, with several of his longtime friends.
Raymond will be remembered as an avid fisherman who was outgoing, loved talking to people and made friends easily.
Beloved husband of fifty-eight years to Anna (nee Vogelzang) Cook(2004); loving father of Raymond A. Cook and his wife Judith of Bethlehem, PA, the late Ellen Jean Cook(1952) and Stephen J. Cook and his wife Gail of Font Hill, Ontario, Canada; cherished grandfather of Jacklyn and Lindsey Cook; devoted brother of Elsie Lanza and her husband John of Whiting and the late Dorothea Hoover(1991) and Frances Cook(2004).
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Wayne Memorial First Aid Squad, PO Box 291, Wayne, NJ 07470 would be appreciated.
