Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 10 AM at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4, 7-9 PM.
He will be laid to rest next to his wife Catherine at the First Reformed Church Cemetery of Pompton Plains.
Raymond Van Noordt age 102 of Wayne died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at the Care One Health Care Center in Wayne. It is noteworthy that his birthday in September would have made him 103 years of age. His passing was quiet and peaceful.
He was born in Passaic and had lived there before moving to Wayne seventy-seven years ago.
Ray was an Operating Engineer for Union Local 825 of Springfield where he was a member for thirty years before his retirement in 1969.
He was a member and former elder of the Pequannock Reformed Church in Wayne.
Raymond served in the United States Coast Guard as well as in the United States Navy as a Fireman Second Class aboard the USS Utah. from 1920 to 1923.
He was a Wayne Boy Scout Troop leader for many years.
Raymond and Catherine Van Noordt had fifty-six years of “loving and devoted” marriage together until Catherine’s passing in December 1981.
Surviving are one daughter Marie Davies and her husband John “Bud” of Arlington, Vermont, two sons Raymond Van Noordt and his wife Joan of Caswell Beach, NC and Irving Van Noordt and his wife Joan of Oak Ridge; nine grandchildren Jim, Peter, Jennifer, Todd, Brett, Ross, Glenn, Scott and Jill; seven great grandchildren Ryan, Rachel, Taylor, Caleb, Michael, Wesley and Austin. His helpmate and companion Mary Brightman.
