Richard A. Perazzone age 91 of Wayne died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at home. His passing was quiet and peaceful while receiving the loving care of his family.
He was born in the Bronx and lived in the Castle Hill section of Bronx, New York where he spent his early years. He later lived in Bethpage, Long Island and Belleville before moving to Wayne fifty-five years ago.
Richard received his formal education at Bronx High School graduating with the Class of 1935.
He started his career with Maas & Walstein Company makers of nail enamel for Revlon. Before his retirement in 1985 he was employed at Revlon Corporation in Belleville for fifty-five years as a Nail Polish Chemist. He was responsible for quality control for the many colored enamels required for Revlon’s products.
He joined the Army in 1941 and participated in Allied attacks at Safi, French Morocco and Tunisia. Corporal Perazzone was in charge of a 60 mm mortar squad at the invasion at the bay of Oran on March 28, 1943. He was severely wounded in battle at El Guettar, Tunisia and received the Combat Infantryman Badge and a Purple Heart.
He enjoyed golf and speed ice skating with the Silver Skates of Bronx, New York.
He leaves his family with many fond memories of a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He encouraged his children with much love and caring to pursue their educations and life. He made personal sacrifices and paid for all of his children’s educations and declined when they offered to pay him back. They will always remember him as a wonderful Dad.
Throughout his life, Richard was known for his stability, patience, hard-work, friendship, devotion-to-family, and just being a productive citizen and all-around great guy.
He loved to talk with people, and would constantly engage friends and even non acquaintances in a casual chat. He was fortunate enough to watch his children grow up, graduate from college, marry, and have their own families.
It is with great sadness, yet with profound respect for Richard’s lifetime accomplishments and example, that he is remembered by his family, who are: daughters Darlene Jagger and her husband Bill of Huntington Beach, California and Pamela Kachadurian and her husband Jack of Cedar Grove; one son Rick Perazzone and his wife Ginny of Cedar Grove; five grandchildren Jenna, Kyle and Jake Perazzone, Mark and Chris Jagger; one great grandson Scotty Jagger.
Those planning an expression of sympathy in Richard’s name are asked to consider Hospice of New Jersey, 400 Broad Acres Dr., Bloomfield, NJ 07003.
