Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 11 AM at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4, 7-9 PM.
Richard Carl Teeling “Rit” age 59 of Jacksonville, Florida died Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. His passing was sudden and unexpected. His death took place peacefully and quietly while he received the loving care of his family at his bedside.
He was born in Paterson and had lived in Wayne most of his life before moving to Jacksonville, Florida two years ago.
Rit received his formal education at Wayne Valley High School graduating with the Class of 1964. He was a very active participant on the Wayne Valley basketball team. He then went on to Southern Connecticut University where he graduated with the Class of 1968 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. He was also active on the Southern Connecticut University basketball team.
Mr. Teeling was the International Sales Manager for Science Magazine in Washington, DC where he worked for the past fifteen years before his retirement in 2002. Previously he was employed by the Wayne Board of Education for ten years teaching physical education for grades six through eight at the Schuyler Colfax Middle School in Wayne.
He leaves his children with fond memories of a loving father that was always there for them in their everyday lives. Meghan, Courtney and Brian especially remember the vacation weekends that they spent on the beach in Wildwood as well as vacations across the country. The family also have great memories of the weekly family excursions to the roller skating rink and long bike rides that they took enjoying each other's company.
Surviving are two daughters Meghan Teeling of Jacksonville, Florida, and Courtney Teeling of Montclair; one son Brian Teeling of Wayne; one brother Robert Teeling and his wife Patricia of Andover; his mother Carolyn (nee Tompkins) Teeling of Wayne; his fiancé Euridice Dangler of Jacksonville, Florida.
He was predeceased by his father Richard James Teeling in April of 2003.
