A memorial service of remembrance will be held Saturday, September 9th, 2006 at 12 Noon at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday, September 9th, 2006 from 11 AM to 12 Noon.
Rita Bakker age 59 of Chester, New York died Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at home. She passed away quietly and peacefully after a courageous battle with lung cancer. At her passing she was receiving the loving care of her sisters Dorothy and Betty.
Rita was born in Paterson and had lived in Little Falls and Wayne before moving to Chester, New York eight years ago.
She received her formal education at Passaic Valley High School graduating with the Class of 1965.
Her first job was as a secretary at Passaic Valley High School where she worked for five years and then she obtained a position as an Administrative Assistant at Becton Dickinson a medical supplies company in Franklin Lakes where she worked for thirty-five years before her retirement in December of 2005.
Rita enjoyed trips every year to Sarasota, Florida to visit with her cousins Ken and Linda (nee Faber) Kuiken. She also had an interest in Koala Bears and traveled to Australia on vacation to visit the Koala Bear’s native habitat.
Surviving are two sisters Dorothy Baronio and her husband Ron of Totowa and Betty Retzer and her husband Bob of Little Falls; two nieces Jeanette Lucciola and her husband John of Ringwood, Dianne Mayer and her husband Keith of Sugar Loaf, New York; two nephews Michael Baronio and his wife Joanne of Nanuet, New York and Peter Courter of Largo, Florida; five great nieces and nephews Rachel and Ryan Mayer, Angela, Dominic and Raymond Baronio.
