Services
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 from the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne then to Saint Marys RC Church, Pompton Lakes where at 12 Noon a Funeral Mass will be offered.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes.
Robert J. Lesko age 76 of Wayne died Friday, December 22, 2006 at home, after a lengthy and brave battle with kidney and heart disease. At his passing at his own home he was receiving the loving care of his family.
He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
He was born in Passaic and lived in Clifton and Franklin Lakes before moving to Wayne twelve years ago.
Robert graduated from Clifton High School with the class of 1948.
Since 1954 Robert has been a car dealer in Wayne Township and founded Wayne Subaru in 1977. Wayne Subaru is one of the last “mom & pop” car dealerships in New Jersey. A true family business including his two sons Robert and Mark, daughter Judy, grandsons Christopher, Corey, Larry and Robert, granddaughter Chelsea and his dedicated Wayne Subaru employees are all part of his family. He worked alongside his wife of fifty-two years until her passing in 2005. His care and compassion towards his customers and employees is what turned many of them into his friends.
He was a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth’s RC Church, Wyckoff and more recently at Saint Marys RC Church, Pompton Lakes.
Thirty years ago Robert and his late wife Agnes(nee Golabek) Lesko(2005) co-founded Wayne Subaru on Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne. Robert was the “pop” in one of the last “mom & pop” auto dealerships in the area.
Robert was an avid racing enthusiast having owned several race cars over the years.
Beloved husband of fifty-two years to the late Agnes L. (nee Golabek) Lesko; loving father of Laura Heydt of Long Valley, Robert J. Lesko, Jr. and his wife Aileen of Pompton Lakes, Cynthia Ullmann and her husband Robert of Port Saint Lucie, FL, Judith Lesko of Clifton and Mark S. Lesko and his wife Michelle of Pompton Lakes; cherished grandfather of fourteen grandchildren and much loved by his late brother Joseph Lesko(1980) and late son-in-law Richard Heydt(2003).
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Saint Mary's Youth Ministry, 17 Pompton Ave., Pompton Lakes NJ 07442 would be appreciated.
