It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert P. Wieme, age 50, of Sparta, NJ.

Robert passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.  Robert was born in Paterson and raised in Wayne.  He was one of two children to Samuel and Mary Wieme.  As a young boy, Robert excelled in football playing with the Wayne P.A.L. and enjoyed getting together with neighborhood friends at the Wayne Captain Kilroy Park to play Ice Hockey.  While a student at Wayne Hills High School, Robert was a member of the Ski Club and played soccer.

Following his graduation from Wayne Hills High School with the class of 1990, Robert worked in the automotive and heating and cooling industries before applying to the International Union of Operating Engineers in 2001. Robert worked for a number of different companies while a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 15; most recently Able Rigging based out of Deer Park, NY.  Robert advanced throughout his over twenty-year career to the position of Maintenance Foreman.  He was truly well loved and well respected by his peers and colleagues.

In 2012, Robert was involved in a project with the subway system in New York City.  While on the jobsite, he met an attractive young Civil Engineer by the name of Nancy Oliver.  Robert asked Nancy out for a date after work one evening and they hit it off great.  Nancy and Robert dated for a few years and as fate would have it, they fell in love, and on May 6, 2017, they became husband and wife on Anna Maria Island in Florida.

The newlyweds settled in Bellville, NJ after getting married.  While residing in Bellville for about two years or so, they welcomed the birth of their one and only daughter, Leah.  About a year after their daughter was born, they moved to Sparta, NJ in July of 2020 and have been there ever since.

He enjoyed racing cars, motocross bikes, and boating.  He also treasured their trips to the Finger Lakes in New York and revisiting his and Nancy’s wedding venue on Anna Maria Island, Florida.  Those who knew Robert best, knew that his greatest passion in his life was for his family.  Nothing in the world meant more to Robert than providing for and spending time with his wife and daughter.  Recently Robert started to rekindle his faith, he and his family began attending mass at Our Lady of the Lake RC Church in Sparta.

Robert was a fun-loving gentleman with a wonderfully interesting sense of humor.  He was the type of person who could talk to anyone about anything and was able to bring smiles to those around him. He was friendly, outgoing, and always upfront with people.  Robert had a “heart of gold” and would stop whatever he was doing to help his family and friends.

Robert will forever be remembered as a true and loyal friend, a loving husband, and most of all, a devoted father.  He was a sincerely special person who will be sorely missed by everyone that knew him.

Robert is survived by his wife Nancy (nee Oliver) of Sparta, NJ, his daughter Leah Wieme of Sparta, NJ, his parents Samuel and Mary Wieme of Wayne, NJ, his brother Kevin John Wieme of Oregon, his uncle John Dutcher and his wife Julie of Beverly, MA, and many beloved extended family.
