Friends may visit with the family, at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne, on Saturday, October 10, 2009, from 9AM – 10:30 AM; at 10:30 AM a Funeral Service will be officiated by Fr. John Khoury.
Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson.
Rose Darakjy(nee Kass) age 95 of Fair Lawn died Thursday, October 08, 2009 at the Arbor Care Center, Toms River.
She was born in Dirabakir, Turkey and came to this country at the age of seventeen settling in Paterson where she lived before moving to Fair Lawn where she lived for forty-two years having moved to Toms River two years ago.
She was a devoted member of the Assyrian Orthodox Church of the Virgin Mary, Paramus.
Rose will be remembered as a quiet person who always avoided confrontation. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. Some of her traditional Turkish specialties were stuffed grape leaves, baklava and shish kabobs. Most of all she was a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother.
She was the loving wife of forty-three years to the late Woodrow Darakjy(1988); devoted mother of Lois J. DeMartino of Toms River and Karen R. McGinley and her late husband Joseph(2006)of Manchester; cherished grandmother of Lori DeMartino, Cheryl DeMartino and Michael McGinley.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Alzheimers Association - Greater NJ, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834 would be appreciated.
