Theresa Virginia McGuire (nee Boniface) age 83 of Lakewood, NJ, formerly of Wayne, NJ passed away peacefully Thursday evening at home in the presence of her family.
Theresa was born at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Montclair, NJ, the fourth of seven children of the late Peter and Ida Boniface (nee Ossi), immigrants from the Veneto region of northern Italy. She was raised in Belleville. After graduating from Belleville High School in 1948, she served as a clerical worker at Prudential and Westinghouse, before becoming the company receptionist at Walter Kidde, Inc. in Belleville. It was at Kidde where she met the man who would become her devoted husband of 56 years, Carroll McGuire of Passaic. Theresa and Carroll were married on September 21, 1957 at St. Peter’s R.C. Church in Belleville.
They lived first in Passaic, then Wayne for 46 years, before moving to Lakewood last year. They were parishioners of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Totowa for 30 years. Together, Carroll and Theresa raised six children. Theresa was a faithful and loving wife and a dedicated mother. In her scarce spare time, she enjoyed oil painting and quietly working in her garden.
Theresa is survived by her husband, Carroll F. McGuire; six children - Claire (Robert) Turner of Perrysburg, OH, Mary Quinn of Matawan, NJ, Matthew (Clare) McGuire of Springfield, PA, Patricia (James) Jemaa of Petersburg, MI, James (Meghan) McGuire of Midlothian, VA and Kathleen (Eric) Ciliberti of Leesburg, VA; thirteen grandchildren, her sister, Louise Rafter of Walnut Creek, CA, and her five brothers, Ernest (Margaret) Boniface of Wayne, Rudolf (Mina) Boniface of Paris, France; Leonard Boniface of Wayne, Peter (Delores) Boniface of East Sandwich, MA; and Thomas (Sigrid) Boniface of Wayne.
