Funeral services will be held Thursday 8 PM at the Hawthorne- Fortitude Masonic Lodge 200, 24 North Franklin Turnpike at Lake Street, Ramsey. Friends may visit with the family at the Lodge from 7-9 PM. For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Thomas Tanski’s memory are asked to consider the Hawthorne- Fortitude Masonic Lodge 200.
Thomas W. Tanski age 69 of North Haledon passed into life eternal on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the Bergen County Health Care Center in Rockleigh. His passing was quiet and peaceful after a six year long battle with his health.
He was born in Paterson and lived his childhood years in Haledon and Prospect Park. Tom received his formal education at Prospect Park Grammar School and Paterson Technical High School where he majored in Building Trades.
Tom was a self employed general contractor building houses and industrial buildings for many years finally retiring in 2008.
He had built into his persona hard work and many skills related to the building trade.
He was gifted with a kind and outgoing personality that loved to be with people. As a result he developed over the years a host of friends.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 0259 in Oneonta, New York, the Ridgefield Elks Lodge 1506, Moose International, Silentia Masonic Lodge No. 168 in Butler, the Veteans Club in Haledon, the Six Ward Athletic Club of Oneonta, New York and Hawthorne Fortitude Masonic Lodge 200 of Ramsey. Tom served twice as Master of Hawthorne Fortitude Masonic Lodge 200 in Ramsey.
Survivors include one son Thomas Tanski and his wife Stacey of Hawthorne; one daughter Tracey Werner and her husband David of Wyckoff; his sister Eileen Ormezzano of North Haledon; one brother Henry Tanski of Wayne nieces and nephews including Debra Paskowski, James Ormezzano, Patrick Tanski, Robert Ormezzano and Kimberly Mascelli.
