A memorial service will be held 1 PM on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne.
Friends may visit with the family before the service from 12 – 1 PM at the funeral home.
Valentina Verdugo (nee Casuso), age 88 of formerly of Newark and Lyndhurst died Wednesday, September 12, 2007
Born in Williamstown, Vermont Valentina moved with her family to New York City as a child and then Newark, NJ. She married her childhood sweatheart, Peter Verdugo, Jr. on Christmas eve 1939 and settled with her loving husband in Newark and Lyndhurst for many years with her before moving to Sunrise, Florida and later Ocala, Florida.
As a young woman, she was learned to be a seamstress and used those skills throughout her working life and for pleasure. She loved to sew, crochet, garden and cook. She will be remembered by family and friends as a good natured person who took great pride in keeping her home pristine, enjoying time and laughing with friends and being a loving wife to her husband Pete for 68 years prior to his death in 2006.
Surviving her are her two sons Peter W. Verdugo of Wayne and Robert W. Verdugo and his wife Karen of West Windsor; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Victor Casuso and four sisters Petra Casuso, Mildred Hackett, Ann Ricucci and Elena "Cookie" Leming.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association-Greater NJ, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834 would be appreciated.
