Services
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday, October 29, 2006 from 2-6 PM. At 4:30 PM the Marine Corps League, Lakeland Detachment – 744 will have a brief service in memory of Bill.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM on Monday, October 30, 2006 at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne.
Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Paterson.
William S. Jurewicz age 64 of Hamburg died Thursday, October 26, 2006, surrounded by his family, at the Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack.
He was born and raised in Paterson having lived in Wayne and Vernon before moving to Hamburg ten years ago.
Bill graduated from Paterson Technical High School, Paterson with the class of 1960 and later graduated from William Paterson College, Wayne with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Safety Administration with the class of 1976.
Bill was a member of the Blue Knights, Sparta Chapter and a member of the UGHA - United in Group Harmony Association, Clifton.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served as a Marine Security Guard for the United States Embassy in both Yugoslavia and Finland. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Lakeland Detachment – 744.
He began his career as a police officer with the Paterson Police Department having transferred to the Wayne Police Department in 1969 before his retirement from law enforcement in 1992. He went on to become a sales and service technician for the United States Postal Service in Hamburg where he has worked for the past ten years.
Bill will be remembered by his family as a fun loving, devoted father who was a cowboy at heart.
Beloved son of Helen (nee Wyrembek) Jurewicz of Paterson and the late William Jurewicz(1982); loving companion of Eileen Rizzolo of Nutley who lovingly stayed by his side throughout his illness; devoted father of William M. Jurewicz and his wife Denise of Vernon and Stacey Jurewicz of Vernon; brother of Jerry Jurewicz and his wife Pat of New Providence and Elaine Villano and her husband Ralph of Vernon and cherished grandfather of William R. and Benjamin Jurewicz.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation, Cancer Center, 360 Essex St., Suite 301, Hackensack, NJ 07601 would be appreciated.
